In today’s world it is really uncommon to be nice to people we don’t consider our friends. And if I’m being honest, I find myself doing the same. We get so caught up in our own lives that we forget that there are so many lost people around us who are in desperate need of the Gospel.
Just last week I was on a retreat to PCB, Florida with my church. During this week, our guest pastor spoke to us about the importance of sharing the joy we have. If we have hope in us we must share it. (1 Peter 3:15) This world surrounding us is so full of hatred that we have forgotten how to love. We focus on the bad and forgo the bright side.
Every social media app I open faces me with negativity.
Now I get it, a lot of bad stuff happens to this world, but as Christians we are to proclaim who God is to us and how he has changed us. An amazing example of this is what has happened in my small town this past week. On Monday the 4th of July, a teenage boy was killed in an ATV accident. Now this is a tragic circumstance and my heart and prayers go out to the family but the cool thing came after. Once the initial shock had set in, the peace of Christ was laid upon the family. They’re Christians and Michael was too, he was so full of Christ that they have no doubt of where he is now. On EOF my friends went to the memorial service and he told me he had never seen so many people at peace with something of this caliber.
I believe God will use this tragedy for the good of his kingdom. I believe the peace the family has received will give a picture of the grace only Christ can give. As Christians we are to continue to share the true happiness that only God can give us. Remember the hope we have even in times of trouble.
As you go about your day I pray that you will showcase your faith to the people around you. By doing this you may even plant a seed inside of them.
